San Juan Huts August 1, 2021 Tim Morley Biking, Travel, Utah Comments Off on San Juan Huts I met up with two college buddies I hadn’t seen in almost 30 years to tackle the San Juan Huts mountain biking tour, taking seven days to ride from Telluride, Colorado to Moab, Utah. For a flatlander from the midwest, the climb to over 10,000 feet on Day 1 was grueling. The main route takes place mostly on gravel roads. Every day has options to get off the roads and hit narrower trails, like these ORV trails on Day 3. The hut at the end of Day 4 sits on the property of a working ranch. Day 5 has optional singletrack. The Ute Creak Trail offers beauty and solitude. The drop in elevation toward the end of the route on Day 5 is shocking.
